Inspired by Susan Coolidge’s classic What Katy Did, read Jacqueline Wilson’s modern day take on the story about the feisty tomboy heroine.
Katy Carr is a lively, daredevil oldest sister in a big family.
She loves messing around outdoors, climbing on the garage roof, or up a tree, cycling, skateboarding, swinging…
But her life changes in dramatic and unexpected ways after a serious accident.

Jacqueline Wilson’s Katy is one of my favourite books. This story starts off with a kind, funny, and a bit naughty big sister. Katy gets paralysed waist down, and perseveres and copes, getting out of hospital, going to school and adjusting to being in a wheelchair. This book is based on what Katy did next, but Katy doesn’t get completely better and it is a modern novel.
