The book is about a little girl called Mariella who tried to stop the darkness (and avoid sleep) by inventing a flying suit that went faster than the darkness of night. I liked the flying suits. I also liked funny bits like when she invented a machine to stop her dog drinking the toilet water but instead it splashed her Dad.
