This book is about a boy named Jim Jarvis who loved in the Victorian times. Jim's family were kicked out of there house and had to go to the workhouse, later on in this story we find Jim with this man named Grimy Nick who forces him to help him on the canals. He escaped from the canals and went to his old workhouse friend Shrimps then he finds someone called Barnie who helps Jim to survive.
