I recommend this book to everyone. We had this book as a class book and I really enjoyed it. It's about a boy called Jim Jarvis who lived in the Victorian era. He was poor and his family got kicked out of their rented room. He was sent to the workhouse and later escaped. He was then found and rented by a man who worked on a coal barge and Jim was forced to work very hard. On his second attempt, Jim escaped from the man too and later went too see a man called Barnie who wanted to help the homeless children who were living on the streets.
